That Evening Sun That Evening Sun |
That Evening Sun Dir: Scott TeemsTrailerPhotoSynopsisDirectorVeteran actor Hal Holbrook (“Into the Wild”) gives a career-capping performance in this beautifully written and directed drama. He stars as Abner Meecham, an 80-something who walks out of a retirement home one day and takes a taxi to his farm outside town, although his lawyer son has rented it out to the Choat family. He moves into a cabin on the property and thus begins a war of words, egos and emotions as he refuses to leave. However, the economic problems and emotional needs of the family members eventually break down his resolve and the film becomes a powerful meditation on forgiveness. The film has echoes of the best works of American playwrights Tennessee Williams and Eugene O’Neill, and features subtle but deeply felt performances by all involved.
