The awards of Animated Dreams 2010 announced


The winners of the awards of 12th Animation Film Festival Animated Dreams were announced on Monday, 22 November at the award ceremony in Sõprus Cinema.

For the second time ever monetary prizes were given out this year. The winner of the Grand Prix, in addition to the Wooden Wolf made by Estonian puppet masters, received 1000 euros sponsored by Premia. The students of Estonian Academy of Arts’ animation department gave out their award for the second time as well – the „Brain-tap” inspired by Animated Dreams logo.

The international jury members Wiola Sowa (Poland), Tatu Pohjavirta (Finland) and Mait Laas (Estonia) decided to hand out the festival awards as follows:


Grand Prix – “Wooden Wolf”

Hand Soap
Japan 2008, 16’

This film touches a very strange moment in a persons life, directors vision on the screen is so strong that it has psycho-physiological influence.

Best Design
Tussilago
Sweden 2010, 14’30’’

The simplifyed complexity of the visual helps us to step inside the environment of the time and expresses emotions.

Best Story
Divers in the Rain / Tuukrid vihmas
Estonia 2009, 23’21’’
Directors: Olga Pärn, Priit Pärn
The story that can’t be explained in words, but is perfectly told by two atmospheres.

Angry Man / Sinna Mann
Norway 2009, 20’
Director: Anita Killi
The film leads us to the director’s light of empathy.

The Lipsett Diaries
Canada 2010, 14’

We thank the director of the film for the visual richness of a sad soul.

Award for the best film handed out by Estonian Academy of Arts’ animation students – “Brain-tap”
My Mother’s Coat
United Kingdom 2010, 6’
Director: Marie-Margaux Tsakiri-Scanatovits
The winner is “My Mother’s Coat” because it is condensed, subtle, honest and personal.

Audience award
